Allow roughly 70 to 100 W per m² in an averagely insulated home with 2.5 m ceilings, and 50 to 60 W/m² in a recent, well-insulated house. For a 12 m² bedroom, aim for 900 to 1,200 W. Slightly oversizing pays off: a larger radiator runs at a lower temperature, which improves the efficiency of a condensing boiler.

A programmable room thermostat is enough for a conventional boiler. With a condensing boiler, prefer a modulating (OpenTherm) thermostat: it continuously adjusts the water temperature and cuts consumption. Smart models add remote control and presence detection.
